Part 1 – 1950-1955 –The 1950s were a boom period in America. Technology again led the way with the new record sizes providing greater flexibility and ease. Development of the transistor allowed people to bring their music wherever they went. Television became the dominant entertainment medium, introducing a wide range of musical entertainment. Small cool jazz combos played in small clubs. Radio led to the popularity of modern country music. Doo Wop became a favorite with young listeners. Pop singers like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney and others were recording, television, and film stars. Join Bob as he gives a historical overview of music of the fifties. Adults only.
