Art Talk by Janet Mandel

John Singer Sargent was an American artist who spent most of his life in Europe. He painted two United
States Presidents, the aristocracy of Europe, the uber-wealthy of America, and mythological heroes. He
immortalized business tycoons and the avatars of modern culture. But he also painted gypsies, tramps,
street children, hard-working laborers, and the horrors of war. And he created dazzling landscapes—a
visual chronicle of the places he visited. Adults only. Registration required.
