Join us for a talk by Holocaust Survivor Robert Sochor. Robert will speak about his life during the Holocaust.
Robert was born in Antwerp, Belgium in April 1939, and lived with his older brother and parents. His father ran a store, which they lived above, and his mother was a language teacher. After the Nazi invasion, Robert’s parents and some other family members hired a truck to take them to the French border to try to immigrate. Unfortunately, Robert’s family were unable to cross the border and they had to return to Antwerp. As life became more restricted during the Nazi occupation, the family faced more and more difficulties. One day, Robert was out with his babysitter for a walk and the Gestapo showed up at his house and arrested his parents. Robert was hidden in several places over the course of the war and was finally able to emigrate to the United States to live with his mother’s family after the war.
This talk was arranged with the asstiance of the Holocaust Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest. Adults only. Registration required.
