Talk by Evan Weiner

1924 was a monumental year.  American immigration policy is changed to ensure that immigrants no longer had easy access to
settling in America. Hitler goes to jail and is released in Germany. Soviet Union leader Vladimir Lenin dies and is replaced by Joseph Stalin. Wyoming elects a woman governor.  The flappers are doing the Charleston and drinking alcohol as Prohibition continues. Calvin Coolidge is re-elected as the President of the United States. Gershwin writes a Rhapsody, Little Orphan Annie debuts, flagpole sitting becomes a fad. Macy’s throws a Christmas Parade in New York.  Join Evan for an entertaining look at life 100 years ago.  Adults only.  Registration required.

This is an Adult Summer Reading Program.  MTPL card holders may be eligible to participate in our weekly & Grand Prize drawings.  Want to increase your odds of winning?  Fill out an additional entry form each time you bring a canned food donation!.
