Lecture by Dr. Robert Butts

Beethoven's symphonies, concertos, string quartets, sonatas, and other forms continue to inspire, entertain, and challenge musicians and listeners. His life serves as an inspiring model as he overcame serious health issues such as deafness to create great music that remains true to his Classical Era ideals while incorporating the passionate intensity of the later Romantic Period. As the music world celebrates the 200th Anniversary of the premiere of Beethoven's popular Symphony #9, we will look at who Beethoven was, how his music was part of his times, and how his career led to the great symphony. Adults only.  Registration required.
