Talk by James Calaski

Join us for  a fascinating talk on this often untold aspect of WW II German history in the United States.  While researching his graduate thesis on the German American Bund, James came across documents in the FBI files regarding a resident of Glen Rock, New Jersey (Bergen County) named Carl Schiphorst.  Schiphorst - the Bergen County leader of the German American Bund and a suspected Nazi agent/spy - was the target of a 145 page FBI investigation. For over a decade, James used all the tools at his disposal to examine the role of Schiphorst and other Bund members. This presentation highlights the Schiphorst investigation, as well as his internment and ultimate repatriation to Germany during World War.

Adults only.  Registration required.
