Talk by Professor Alexander Clemente

To the surprise of many, Italy has a much briefer “national” history than the United States. Why and how did this boot-shaped piece of geography, so divided by dialects and regional borders, eventually unite? This lecture will take a deep look at 19th century Italy and its efforts to be independent of larger powers like Spain, France & Austria, and become a "united nation".  Adults only.
